Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using Stoic ("the App"). By using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
2. Service Description
Stoic is an iOS application designed to help users apply Stoic philosophy to their daily lives. The App provides:
- AI-powered conversations with a Stoic mentor inspired by Marcus Aurelius
- Daily wisdom quotes from Stoic philosophers
- Guided journaling for reflection and self-improvement
- A memento mori life calendar for perspective on time
- Daily notifications for morning and evening reflection
3. Accounts & Authentication
To use the App, you must sign in with your Apple ID using Sign in with Apple. You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the security of your Apple ID
- All activities that occur under your account
- Notifying us of any unauthorized use
4. Subscriptions & Payments
Free Tier
All users receive 5 free AI conversations per day. This allows you to experience the value of Stoic mentorship before committing to a subscription.
Premium Subscription
Premium subscribers receive 50 AI conversations per day, enabling deeper exploration of Stoic philosophy.
Billing
- Subscriptions are billed through your Apple ID
- Subscriptions auto-renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
- You can manage subscriptions in your Apple ID settings
Refunds
Refunds are handled by Apple according to their refund policies. Contact Apple Support for refund requests.
5. Your Content
You retain ownership of all content you create in the App, including:
- Journal entries and reflections
- Conversation history with Marcus
- Life calendar entries and experiences
- Any personal notes or text you input
By using the App, you grant us a limited license to process your conversations through our AI service to generate responses.
6. AI-Generated Content
Important: Marcus is an AI character inspired by Stoic philosophy. His responses are generated by artificial intelligence and should not be considered a substitute for professional mental health care, medical advice, or therapy.
Nature of AI Responses
Responses from Marcus are:
- Generated by AI, not a real person
- Inspired by Stoic philosophy but may not perfectly represent any specific philosopher's views
- For educational and reflective purposes only
- Not a substitute for professional advice of any kind
Mental Health
If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, please contact a qualified mental health professional or emergency services. The App is not designed to provide crisis intervention.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the App to:
- Generate content that is illegal, harmful, or violates others' rights
- Attempt to circumvent usage limits or security measures
- Use the service for purposes it was not designed for
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
- Use the App for any illegal purpose
Violation of these terms may result in immediate termination of your account without refund.
8. Intellectual Property
The App, including its design, features, AI prompts, and code, is owned by Spaghetti Coder Apps and protected by intellectual property laws.
Stoic philosophy quotes are in the public domain. The presentation, curation, and arrangement of these quotes within the App is our intellectual property.
9. Disclaimers
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING:
- MERCHANTABILITY
- FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE
- NON-INFRINGEMENT
- ACCURACY OR RELIABILITY OF AI RESPONSES
We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. AI responses may contain errors or inaccuracies.
10. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:
- Any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
- Loss of data or business opportunities
- Any damages resulting from AI-generated content
- Any decisions or actions taken based on AI responses
- Any damages exceeding the amount you paid us in the past 12 months
11. Termination
We may terminate or suspend your access to the App at any time for violation of these Terms or for any other reason.
Upon termination:
- Your right to use the App ceases immediately
- Your local data remains on your device unless you delete the app
- You may delete your account and server data from Settings before termination
